Roundtable Statement on Governor's Budget Proposal

We agree with Governor Carney that policymakers must focus on enacting budgets based on what is sustainable in future years. Despite improved forecasts for the coming year, the Delaware Business Roundtable remains concerned about the sustainability of the state’s revenue sources. Delaware faces fundamentally shaky finances driven by unreliable and unpredictable revenue sources and ever-ballooning health, education and public employee expenses. Looking ahead, state officials must carefully watch future state economic projections and other variables, such as the impact of the federal tax cuts, to determine whether the Governor’s proposal to increase state spending by 3.5 percent is truly susta

Roundtable Welcomes General Assembly, Encourages Growth Agenda

The Delaware Business Roundtable welcomes the General Assembly back to Dover, and we look forward to working with members to facing up the tough economic challenges we face as a state. Lawmakers took major and important steps toward strengthening the state’s economy last session, most notably the creation of Delaware Prosperity Partnership and the modernization of the Coastal Zone Act – both of which will help bring jobs and talent to Delaware. We encourage the General Assembly to build on these accomplishments and continue to sharpen its focus on job creation and growth.
